Winners Cinekid Festival 2016 announced

On Friday night, at the Westergas Theatre in Amsterdam, the 2016 Cinekid Jury and Audience Awards were presented in the Film, TV and New Media categories. Japanese director Kohki Hasei's feature film Blanka was proclaimed Best Children's Film by the international jury. Anna van der Heide’s film Mr. Frog won the Cinekid Lion for Best Dutch Family Film. 
The Golden Kinderkast for best TV production went to Mascha Halberstad and Anneke Dorsman for their collaborative production of Get it! by the NTR. Prizes were also granted in the New Media field: the jury considered the through apps programmable Dash & Dot Robots the best new media production of 2016. These were developed by American company Make Wonder and brought to the Netherlands by Tools for Talent. 
The Audience Award was conferred to Physical Pong by the Dutch developer Thijs Eerens. For the first time, the apps from the Cinekid AppLab were also eligible for a Cinekid Lion. Sago Mini Friends bagged this award.

The Burny Bos Talent Award was granted for the third time this year. With this accolade, Burny Bos wants to encourage and reward scriptwriting talents in the Netherlands. The winner is given the possibility to elaborate the written screenplay under the guidance of BosBros and produce it, if financing is secured. 
Cinekid for Professionals
During the Junior Co-Production Market at the Cinekid for Professionals industry event, the jury awarded various prizes to the best projects for youth media.

Lifetime Achievement Award for Sannette Naeyé
On Friday night, Cinekid also presented the Cinekid Lifetime Achievement Award to their managing director Sannette Naeyé. Naeyé has announced she will leave Cinekid as of 2017. With this honour, Cinekid wants to express gratitude to her for her whole-hearted dedication over the past twenty years. Naeyé stood at the cradle of the Cinekid Festival as we know it today: a powerful organisation that is a fixture in the (inter)national cultural and educational landscape.
Amsterdam based artist Jeroen Henneman design the award for this occasion.
Cinekid Festival 
The 30th anniversary edition of the Film, TV and New Media festival for children took place from 15 to 21 October at the Westergasfabriek in Amsterdam. Up until 30 October, you can find Cinekid in more than 35 cities across the country.
