The other nominees for the Best Short European Animation Film were: Rabbit and Deer from Péter Vácz, (Hungary, 2013) and La Fenêtre from Camille Müller, (Switzerland, 2012).
This new film category involves animation films that are suitable for young children, do not exceed thirty minutes and contain little dialogue. With this new programme section, Cinekid can introduce small children to themes and narrative styles from many countries.
The jury consists of Benjamin Renner (director of Ernest & Célestine, winner of the 2012 Cinekid Audience and Jury Awards), Eric Goossens (producer of Oscar nominees The Triplets of Belleville and The Secret of Kells) and Erik van Drunen (former programmer of the Holland Animation Film Festival).
The Cinekid Festival is the annual international Film, Television and New Media Festival for children, organised yearly during the fall break. This year, the Cinekid Festival takes place from 16 to 25 October in the Westergasfabriek, The Movies, Het Ketelhuis and the MC Theatre in Amsterdam. And also on more than 30 locations across the country during fall break.
Parallel to the Cinekid Festival runs Cinekid for Professionals, a 5-day industry event for everybody involved in children's media with over 750 attendees.
