Cinekid has nominated 12 productions for the Cinekid Lion for Best New Media Production of 2016. The prize is awarded each year during the Cinekid Festival. With the award Cinekid strives to showcase the full range of productions that entered the Dutch and Flemish market over the past year and tries to stimulate the quality of new media productions aimed at a younger audience.
Over 70 companies and producers have entered their best new media productions of last year. Entries were sent from all over the world, were qualitatively high and very diverse in formats: ranging from games for consoles and mobile platforms to online games, interactive installations, websites and applications from both commercial and independent producers.
The jury, consisting of professionals Astrid Poot, Anton Damen, Karel Millenaar, Matthijs Dierckx and Douwe-Sjoerd Boschman, selected a total of 12 productions for the Cinekid Lion Best New Media Production. They studied the quality of the productions by looking at the artwork, the interaction design, the usability, the sound design and the story line. Innovation in the technical sense and authenticity were also considered in the selection process.
