Every two weeks we introduce you to a member of the Cinekid for Professionals team. This week we proudly present Thijs van der Laak! Read our Q&A with Thijs below.
Thijs, please introduce yourself and tell us something about your background
Currently, I am completing the final parts of my BA in International Media and Entertainment Management in The Hague. Prior to joining Cinekid for Professionals, I worked at the Industry Office of Go Short – International Short Film Festival for two years, and I volunteered at several major Dutch film festivals such as IFFR and IDFA. In my spare time I like to watch movies, go to concerts and festivals and enjoy a beer with friends every now and then.
What is your role at Cinekid for Professionals?
Together with Charlotte Hendriks, who will be introduced to you right here in the next newsletter, I am responsible for the guest service of Cinekid. We help guests make travel and accommodation arrangements, and help them with other questions they might have. When needed I also help out my colleagues in the Junior Co-production Market or Script LAB.
What do you like about Cinekid?
What I like about Cinekid is how it offers children a wide range of films, TV-series and new media projects. They get to learn about it at a very young age, and hopefully will carry this enthusiasm with them for a long time. The best part of working at Cinekid for Professionals is meeting the many guests of the festival, the dynamic workflow and the great colleagues!
