During the Cinekid for Professionals Awards Ceremony three prizes were handed out to projects selected for the Junior Co-Production Market 2015.
The winner of the Eurimages Co-Production Development Award was:
BO by Esmé Lammers, written by Barbara Jurgens. Production: Waterland Film (The Netherlands)
“The jury was impressed by the powerful presentation and Guusje van Deuren’s passion and enthusiasm. She had a clear grasp of her material, which is an original story. The project breaks down stereotypes about teenage girls in society by providing a positive depiction of changing roles, where the brother is dependent on his sister. We like the daring effort to set a love story in a kickboxing ring. With this Award, in combination with the universal theme of the story, we would encourage co-production partners to get involved with the project.”
The Special Mention of the Eurimages Co-Production Development Award went to:
KAYTEK THE WIZARD by Magdalena Lazarkiewicz, written by Magdalena Lazarkiewicz, Katarzyna Terechowicz. Production: Mediabrigade (Poland) TVP S.A. (Poland), Dreamsound Sp.z o.o. (Poland), Loveframe s.r.o. Prague (Czech-Republic)
“The Special mention goes to a project that uses important historical context to present a daring and very powerful contemporary message. It reminds us of the important values upheld by the great intellectual Koyzak who stood for human rights. We also want to encourage the producer who was incapable of disguising his devotion to the project!”
The Eurimages Co-production Development Award is granted to the best film project in the Junior Co-production Market. The Award is provided by European cinema support fund Eurimages in order to promote European youth film, with the intention to stimulate European co-productions. The winner receives €20.000.
The winner of the Junior Co-production Market Best Project Award was:
TELL ME MORE by Duccio Chiarini, written by Sofia Assirelli, Gaia Rayneri.
Production: Rai Fiction (Italy), tempesta (Italy/UK)
“The jury was very impressed by the diversity and the quality of the projects presented to them this year but unanimously came to the conclusion that one single project stood out for its originality and its capacity to engage with its target audience from the ground up.”
The Special Mention of the Junior Co-production Market Best Project Award went to:
MIRONINS by Mikel Mas, written by Celia Rico - Cornelius Films (Spain)
“For its charm and inventiveness the jury would like to give a special mention to the MIRONINS from Spain.”
A select jury handed out the Junior Co-production Market Best Project Award to the best overall project of the Junior Co-production Market based on its quality, innovation and international potential. The award is accompanied by a €2.500 cash prize.
