The Kids & Docs Workshop, which aims to develop doc-making talent within the children’s media sector, has started again. The workshop is organised by Cinekid and the International Documentary Festival Amsterdam (IDFA), with the support of the NPO fund and is run in association with the Dutch public broadcasters and youth TV broadcaster Zapp.
During the three month workshop, six talented filmmakers are given support to develop a film plan for a children’s documentary with a maximum duration of fifteen minutes. The starting point for all these documentaries is the way children experience the world. Over this period the doc-makers will work closely with participating broadcasters AVROTROS, EO/ IKONdocs, HUMAN, KRO-NCRV, NTR and the VPRO. The process is guided by award winning filmmaker Ester Gould (A Strange Love Affair with Ego, Strike a Pose and Schuldig). Applications for financial support to facilitate the development of the documentary plans must be submitted to the NPO fund by the 5th of June.
The documentaries will premiere at the Cinekid Festival in October and/or IDFA in November 2018 (provided they are completed in time) before eventual broadcast on Zapp.
Participating filmmakers 2018:
Anne van Campenhout, Cassandra Offenberg, Iris Grob, Kim Faber, René van Zundert and Sara Kolster.
