![]() | Karen Wallace has written over two hundred and fifty books ranging across natural history picture books, short funny fiction, humour, historical fiction and a number of full length novels. She has won many awards on both sides of the Atlantic. Think of an eel (1992) won the Kirt Maschler Award and the Times Educational Award in the UK and the Parents’ Gold Medal Award in the US. Raspberries on the yangtze inspired by Karen’s own childhood was shortlisted for the Guardian Children’s Fiction Prize, 2001. The unrivalled spangles was shortlisted for the Book Trust Award in 2005. Karen also writes for children’s television. Her scripts include live action, animation, and natural history commentary as well as her own projects. She was part of a team that won a Bafta award in 2001 for the Hoobs series. She was on the writing team for Platinum Films’ cookery/entertainment show for the 6-9’s for CBBC Planet Cook (2004/5). Karen has developed projects with Nesta Futurelab, Aardman Animation and Novel Entertainment. More recently she was on the writing team for Aardman’s pre-school show Timmy Time. |
