Press release, 19 September 2008

Mark Walsh, Supervising Animator at Disney - Pixar, will be giving a master class on Friday 24 October at Cinekid.  The master class will focus on the creative process that produced Ratatouille, a hugely successful film and winner of, amongst many other awards, a BAFTA and an Oscar® for best animated film. Walsh will also be in discussion with Dutch animators and, on the same day, will make an appearance in the Cinekid Medialab for children. During his visit, children will be given an opportunity to ask  him questions about their favourite films.

Mark Walsh studied animation at the famous California Institute of the Arts. His graduation film, Extra Short, caught the eye of those in control at Pixar Animation Studios, after which they offered him a job as an animator on the film A Bug's Life. Within the studios he further developed his skills as an animator, storyboard artist and character developer, working on films such as Toy Story 2, Monsters Inc., The Incredibles and, as Director of Animation, on Finding Nemo.

The making of Disney-Pixar's Ratatouille is a master class organised by Cinekid and the Dutch Institute for Animated Film (NIAf). On Thursday 23 October Walsh will be giving a master class at the NIAf.
