This year’s Cinekid Festival opens in Tuschinski in Amsterdam on October 13th with Simone van Dusseldorp’s film Briefgeheim. The film is based on the book of the same name by Jan Terlouw. The event marks the opening of the national Cinekid Festival in Middle and South Holland. The festival in Amsterdam will be held between October 20th and 29th in the Westergasfabriek and the Movies.
Briefgeheim is the story of 11 year old Eva, who has had enough of the tension at home. She wants to let her parents know just how she feels, and decides to leave home and hide in the attic of the home of her best friends Jackie and Thomas. But when Eva finds a secret letter and is discovered in the garden of the neighbour, Mr. Bransdsema, who is the leader of a criminal gang, things no longer go as planned. The main characters are played by Daan Schuurmans, Hanna Obbeek, Lies Visschedijk and Filip Peeters .
"Briefgeheim" was produced by Lemming Film in co-production with the VPRO and received financial support from the CoBo Fund. A-Film distributes the film as from October 14th.
The Cinekid Festival is held across the Netherlands from October 13th to November 1st. A number of the satellite festivals begin, just like the festival in Amsterdam, 3 days before the school autumn holiday with special screenings for schools.
