Because creating animation is so incredibly work-intensive - every second of film is hours if not days of work - pre-production is a very important and drawn out phase. Referring to their own work, the Dane Karsten Kiilerich and the American Aaron Springer, two well known but very different film makers, discuss with moderator Paul Wells the different aspects of writing scripts for children's animation. What are the cultural differences between American and European stories? And: how can you retain tension in an animation feature?
