Cross Media: New Programming Strategies for the European Public Broadcasters

Wednesday 21 October, 9.00 a.m - 14.00 p.m.

Location: Flex Bar

Language: English

Invitation Only

The new digital technology and the development of different media platforms are changing the media landscape. This evidently influences both the media use and expectations of the young audience, as well as the programming strategies of the media producers.

This meeting will focus on the cross media environment of the European public broadcasters, who traditionally have a strong tradition in production and programming for children and youth. How are they responding to the new needs of their audience? What does this new way of consuming media mean for the broadcasters? Which are the big questions for the European public television in this transition time, and how can they find new models for formats to cross different platforms?

Invited speakers will present examples of best practice and give their opinion on tomorrow's developments.

The meeting aims to discuss and find solutions on how best to develop, produce and evaluate cross media products, and what is required within the organisations in European Public Broadcasting to create a culture capable of supporting cross media.

Keynote speech: Nicoletta Iacobacci (Switserland) is in charge of Eurovision TV Interactive at the European Broadcasting Union. She is the coordinator of expert groups for European public broadcasters, developing compelling content and a solid infrastructure for the TV of the future.

Moderator: Lisbeth Mathiesen (Denmark) is a creative cross media producer and is involved in co-development and financing. She founded Jolly Good Company which specialises in developing strong international media concepts for children.
